Error 1935 During install of Office 2003 Pro

G

Gail Figg

Received the following error:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly comonent:
{62E0197E-B4A5-4721-A8A0-11EB7B13F6E9},HRESULT: 0x80070005.

This occurred very close to the end of the install, status showed:
Current Action: Publishing Product Information

Machine is running Windows XP, SP2 with all updates (checked for those and
reran install with same result already). Had a trial version of Office 2003
Standard on the machine, uninstalled that. Works 7.0 is still on the machine
(OEM version).

If someone can help, I'm all ears.
I'm new to these discussion groups, is there somewhere else I could be
looking?

Thanks in advance.

Although you're not trying install either of these products, any chance you
have any of the offending programs mentioned in this KB article?

You receive an "Error 1935" error message when you try to install Works or
Encarta
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;902330

If not, do you have full access or rights to install software on that
system? Apparently the HRESULT number means "general access denied".

(Please note, I'm about as clueless as you are.)

G

Gail Figg

Good idea, but unfortunately this doesn't do it.

I followed the instructions listed there already with the same result. The
Works/Encarta response has a different return code and I believe it refers to
a different component, if I'm reading the message correctly there.

Thanks for looking though. I haven't found a suggested solution yet, if you
can think of something else I could search on or more info to add to this
message, let me know. I've searched microsoft.com and technet using a portion
of the component name, thinking that should narrow it somewhat, with no luck.
Using the Error 1935 got me this far.

Thanks!

I've also got this problem three times trying to install. I did a search on
this error and someone suggested to use the current Windows Vista Build 5384
not 5308 which is what I'm using. I could only get the PowerPoint 2007
splash screen to come up for a few seconds and none of the other programs
would open.

Mike:

I was going to add one more post to this thread, but it got away from me....

Anyway, I did resolve the problem, but had to shut down my firewall,
anit-virus scanner, and my anti-spyware software in order to get the install
to complete. At one point, I had shut off the firewall, but not the other 2,
and I got the same message with a different component number. Then I shut
down the other 2 and the install completed with no problem. I had everything
back up and running within about a minute of the install completing, and then
went on to register Office 2003 Pro with no further problems.

I am using Invisus Security, not sure if that is a factor or if it is the
activity of those types of programs themselves, but I haven't had any
problems with them or Pro since.

Hope this helps, I only got that far because I found there were several
messages about firewalls and spyware generating similar types of errors with
multiple different MS packages. I thought I'd give it a shot and once the
first error changed, and the install had progressed a little farther, I
figured if I took the shutdown path a little farther I might get there. It
worked.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Office 2007 is not supported on earlier Vista versions. You will need Build
5384 or better.

I think I'll just take Milly's advice and wait till we get build 5384.
