error 2203 when installing Ofice 2007

I keep getting error 2203 when attmpting to install Office 2007. I have set
privileges in the Install folder and inhereited them down to all children, it
still happens.

Environment is XP Professional, SP2 - auto updates on, Lenovo - IBM - X40,
Office 2003 professional installed and running.

The first time I tried to install it clobbered Outlook 2003, subsequesntly I
succeded in installing just Outlokk 2007 from separate CD. Office 2007 still
will not install.

** Collect information:
1. How did you try to install Office 2007 on the computer, installed
directly via the Office 2007 CD, or create an administrator installation
point, or others?

2. Send the Office setup log file to me at (e-mail address removed).

1. Click Start menu-> Run, type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box and press Enter.
2. Find the file "Microsoft Office 2007 Setup(****).txt" in the folder.
**** means the number.
3. Send this file as an attachment to me.

** Suggestion:

At this point, please follow the steps below to see if it works.

Step 1: come into Windows clean boot mode to try to install Office 2007
===============
1. Click Start menu-> Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box and press Enter.
2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup; click to clear the
"Process System.ini File", "Process WIn.ini File", "Load System Services"
and "Load Startup Items" check boxes. You cannot clear the "Use Original
Boot.ini" radio button.
Note: You can click the Normal Startup radio button to return to the normal
Windows Startup after the test.

3. Click the "Services" tab. Check "Hide all microsoft services", click
disable all. If the "disable all" is not available, please just skip it.
4. Click the "Startup" tab, click "disable all". If the "disable all" is
not available, please just skip it.

5. Click OK.
6. Restart the computer and try to install Office 2007 again.

Step 2: Install the latest version of Windows Installer
===============
Download and install the latest version of the Windows Installer
(Instmsiw.exe) from the following link.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=889482FC-5F56-4A38-
B838-DE776FD4138C&displaylang=en

Try to install Office 2007 again.

Step 3:
===============
Check if your situation is same with the situation discribed in the
following KB article.

debug log when you try to install a program that uses Windows Installer 3.0

I just bought Microsoft Office 2007, and everytime I try to install it, I get this error message (2203, an internal error has occured), what am I doing wrong?

fixing error 2203 installing office
I had to go to the windows directory in the C directory, actuatly type in \Installer directory for it to appear, and then set all files and subfolder in that directory off of read only. Once I did that, 0ffice 2007 installed just fine.
