Error 2203

Since word 2007 sudeenly did not work properly, I decided to reinstall it.
But I got an error message "Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007
encountered an error during stup. Error 2203. An internal error has
occured. (C:\Windows\Installer\567ab.ipi - 2147287035) Contact Microsoft
Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For information about how to
contact PSS, see C:\Users\jigme\AppData\Local\Temp\Setup0000694\PSS10R.CHM"

I've checked other solutions posted on this newsgroup such as starting
Windows Vista in clean mode, using Windows Install Cleanup, checking the
environmental variables - TEMP and TMP folder, but nothing has worked at all.
Even I couldn't find the PSS10R.CHM, nor Windows\Installer folder! Would
you please help me out. I desperately need to make handouts for the next
meeting on Friday! I appreciate your help in advance.

System: Vista
Office version: Office Home and Student 2007 + SP1

Start a new thread and post YOUR version of Office and YOUR version of Windows and describing your issue even if same as someone else. Do NOT hijack another's post

I've had the same problem on a machine with vista home premium sp1 and office
2007 ulitmate which had office 2000 installed previously.

All I did to get it working was.
change the permissions of windows\temp so that the user installing office
had full control.
Emptied my temp folders (no idea if this helped, but it was mentioned in
other posts).
Unistalled office 2000 using add\remove programs (this didn't help on its
own).
disabled UAC.

Then it worked.

hope this helps and is more useful than the reply you got telling someone
off!
