Hi,

I suddenly started getting error 3259 messages for my outgoing mail on my Yahoo.co.jp account ONLY. My other accounts are sending fine. After reading the support forums I tried deleting and reinstalling but that didn't work. Another piece of advise was to set my port from 25 to 587. I want to give it a try but I don't know where to find that information. Does anyone here?

Thanks,
wm

There is another Yahoo user that started having similar problems after
12.1.7 update. Not sure exactly what is happening since none of the standard
steps have proved successful.

If you have a backup copy of Office in Time Machine or clone backup. Simply
zip your current folder in Applications for Office for Mac and bring back
your previous version. I would restart after doing this. Let me know if the
problem goes away if you revert.

I'm thinking there was some security change in 12.1.7 that needs some kind
of additions changes in the Advanced setting for SMTP. I would contact Yahoo
to see exactly what is needed for Advanced settings.

Let me know what you find.

Thank you for the reply.

I'm not confident enough with the computer to Zip and bring back that previous version. I will contact Yahoo and see what they say, thank you much.

Just to clarify, you don't think changing the ports will fix the problem?

Cheers,

You can try, but there are several options for ports. You won't know unless
you try. It doesn't hurt anything to test it out.

Yahoo should be able to tell you exactly what they want you to use.

Just found this:

* Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication.
