Error 2370 invalid CRC checksum in setup log file. Problem here??

I just set up Office 2000 Standard (Excel, Word, Powerpoint only) on my
laptop and noticed eleven worrisome entries in the setup log file, which read
as follows:

"Error 2370 Invalid CRC checksum value for <filename>.{ Its header says
<header checksum value> for checksum, its computed value is <computed
checksum value>.}"

Immediately after each of these entries, another error message appears as
follows:

"Error 2942 - BindImage action has not been executed on <filename>"

The following files are affected:

BLNMGR.DLL FP4UTL.DLL CSAPI3T1.DLL MSONSEXT.DLL EXCEL.EXE MSO9.DLL
PACKNGO.DLL MSOHELP.EXE MSROUTE.DLL XLINTL32.DLL RAGENT.DLL.

Despite these error messages Office 2000 setup appears to proceed normally,
and the entries in Msievent.log indicate that Office 2000 setup was
"successful". I have been running all of the modules I installed (Excel,
Powerpoint, and Word) for several days now without any kind of crashes. In
particular, Excel and MS Office Help (including Office Kitty) have been
performing normally ...so far.

Is this error 2370 really a problem?? If the "BindImage" action fails to
execute during setup, will this affect the software's functionality? I can't
find documentation on errors 2370 or 2942 anywhere on the MS website. I sure
hope someone out there can shed some light on this issue.

BTW, I noticed several other errors in the setup log (2898,2826,and 2726)
but I looked them up in the KB, and they turned out to be "debug" errors that
are safe to ignore.

Here are the particulars on my system configuration.

Pentium I PC (133MMX) with 80MB RAM, 10X CD-ROM
Windows 98SE and Internet Explorer 6 SP1
Office 2000 Standard (Upgrade version) SR-1.
Windows Installer 2.0 (build 2600) (came with Adobe Reader 6.0)

Here is what I've tried so far to resolve the issue:

1) I tried installing Office 2000 using the Windows Installer version that
ships with the product (version 1.10). I don't get errors 2370 and 2942 as
these messages only appear with Installer version 2.0. Instead, I get error
2904 "Could not BindImage file", which seems to indicate that the same
problem is occurring regardless of the particular version of Installer I am
using.

2) Thinking that dirty media might be to blame, I made sure the Office 2000
CD was squeaky clean .. no scratches, no nicks, no smudges. The CD looks
perfect (to the naked eye). I still get Installer errors 2370 and 2942 in
the setup log.

3) Thinking that perhaps the internal CD-ROM drive was faulty, I tried
installing Office 2000 from an external CD-ROM drive (BACKPACK connected via
LPT1). I still get Installer errors 2370 and 2942 in the setup log.

If anyone can suggest how to deal with these setup errors - or whether I
even need to deal with them at all, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks.
