error 25004

I've downloaded Office 2007 Pro and am getting this error. It seems as it's
trying to do a per-user install. How do I set the program to do a
per-machine install?

Sorry Bob...I get the error when trying to install the package. It goes fine
until about half way through and then it throws the error and then rolls back
out of installation.

Are there other Office installations? Have they been removed? What
operating system are you installing on, and also are there "privacy
protection" softwares running?

Bob,
Let's start at the beginning...
I am running XP Pro w/ SP3
I had a potential client that wanted some samples run off of a Publisher
file. I downloaded the trial version of Publisher from MS website (the
version of Office I had, did not have Publisher) so I could print them off on
our equipment. Customer was happy...good thing...made the sale...another
good thing!
Once the trial period expired, it asked me to register it for the full
version. I didn't feel I needed it, so I uninstalled through "add and remove
programs". That's where the problems started. A file was deleted that was
shared by other Office programs. It kept asking me for the original Office
install disk which I did not have.
I downloaded a program (Perfect Uninstaller) which found many other Office
components that were not found with "add and remove" through "control panel".
All of which have been deleted to the recycle bin.
As far as your question of "privacy protection" softwares, I'm not sure what
you mean. I am running TrendMicro anti virus which I have disabled currently
(another suggestion I found in another post which did not make a difference)
Thanks.

AH! That tells a lot about why/how the install has been hosed. I think
your only way out now is to get try to reverse the "Perfect Uninstaller"
damage, (undelete them from the Recycle Bin), then use the Windows
Restore to put the system registry back to the time before you ran the
Perfect Uninstaller. Then run Microsoft installer cleanup utility

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

And then use your install CD to reinstall office. You will need the
install CD or the complete install file from when ever you got your
Office suite.
