ERROR 57E

Hi all,
Hope some one can help, evertme i go for updates for my office 2003
this error 57e comes up and will not install any up dates??
My op sys is windows vista 32bit, both office and windows are
genuine,
Hoping some one out there can help..

Try leaving the Office 2003 install CD in the CD\DVD drive while installing

Hello Peter I'm Diana and if you have found a solution for this Error Code
57E and Code 4397 both of these are preventing me from downloading 3-crusial
updates. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on Hp Media System PC. Thank
you in advance for your help if you found an answer.

Leave you Office 2003 install CD in your CD\DVD-ROM while downloading and installing those updates. I said downloading because I do not know if you are using Office Update \WU . So the CD will be there when the installation starts

Peter, I also have Error code 57E when trying to install updates for Office
2003. I am running Vista. I tried your solution of leaving the CD in when
downloading and installing, but I still get the same Error code. Do you have
any other suggestions?

a number of hours before. I run Vista Ultimate and have the same problem!

What if you don't have a disc?
and how critical are these updates anyway?

Hey peter

I left my disc in while downloading and nothing happened except the error
cannot get it to download any other suggestion I could try.

That is not what I posted. Read it carefully again. Leave the install CD in while
the download that you will download manually is INSTALLING. Not for Downloading
