Error 6: The handle is invalid; Error 50: The request is not suppo

These error messages suddenly appear on one of our machines, for no apparent
reason, whenever dial-up is attempted. The dial-up process is then aborted.
Not a hardware problem, not a server problem, and no deliberate change in
configuration has been made.
