Error Accessing system registry

When I get spreadsheets emailed from a PC, I can't open them. I get the
message "error accessing the system registry". How do I address this
problem?

Hi Jeffrey,

There are a couple possibilities here. One is that you are using Excel on
system 9 or earlier and you need to raise the preferred memory setting using
Finder's Get Info command. Try 35000 or even 50000. Don't adjust the other
setting.

You wouldn't by any chance be using Crystal Decisions version 8, would you?
Probably not, but if you are that's a possible cause of this error.
