error accessing the system registry

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC Without any pre-incident Excel gave this error message when I tried to open any of my saved files. I could open a new workbook, name and save it, but not reopen it.

Can anyone advice me on what to do
