error bars

i'm trying to create error bars but i don't seem to have "selected data series" in my format menu. can anyone help?

That will appear after you have selected a series in the chart.

To select a series, click on a line, or column
Or, select the chart, and select a series from the Chart Objects
dropdown list in the Chart toolbar
