Error building OLAP cube

K

Kevin

We are receiving the following message on the Enterprise Options page
in PWA. "The cube scheduled to be built on 21/03/2005 at 15:38
failed.

(-2147217871) Error in populateTaskFactTable. Timeout expired ". I
did post a question here over a year ago but received no response. We
have a manual workaround of letting this happen and then processing
the database manually from Analysis Services. However, I'd have a lot
more confidence if everything happened automatically. Any ideas?
Thanks, Kevin.

Kevin,

I had the same problem back in January and I solve it by installing SP1.

MI - thanks for the feedback. We have applied SP1 to the server and
all clients. It didn't solve this one for us.

Just an idea, but are you extending the OLAP cube? If so, it sounds as
if you have a really large database that is getting processed.

There is a function called getCubeTaskFactInsertSQL in the
MSPOLAPBREAKOUT.dll that sets the timeout for a Command. Try
increasing this timeout property.

Thanks,

Victor

Victor,
We have implemented a 'weeks' option in the Time dimension of the OLAP
cube. I will pass your suggestion to my DBA and ask him to look at
it.
Many thanks,
Kevin
