Error filling my mailbox, 0X8004010F: offline address book

Outlook 2003, Exchange 2000 on Server 2000 (I think).

Every time my machine tries to get mail from the server I get this in a
message:

9:49:44 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
9:49:44 0X8004010F

The first time I looked there were just under 1500 of these messages. The
only hit I find on the MS web site is several pages long and requires access
to the install disks, which I don't have.

Suggestions?

Have you talked to your Exchange admin about this? Sounds like there's a
problem with the OAB generation on the server.

They don't know.

I don't know what an OAB is, but given the name I'm pretty sure I've never
used it and never will. Is there some way to simply turn it off?

Isn't it their job to do tech support? If they don't know, they should look
into it.

Offline Address Book. You do use it; you're using cached mode (or you
wouldn't see the sync messages at all).

Maybe they should take a look on the server for errors - and try rebuilding
the offline address book?
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289969 (this error
described is for OL2002 but still applies AFAIK)
