I have a strange problem. I compacted a database. I also backed up the
uncompacted database. When I try to add the ODBC mapping from a remote
computer, I get an error " You do not have permission. Contact Admin or
database owner.) I am both. There is a password and when I map to the old
database I am asked for this password and I get right in. When I map to the
new database, (same database, only compacted) I am not asked for a password,
I only get the error message. All of the permissions settings are identical
for the two versions of the database. I know this question doesn't make
sense, but the problem is real. I have had other DBAs look at it and they
too are dumbfounded. I thought someone in here may have an idea, or may have
come across this problem before.
Thanks,
