error importing & publishing large files

I am using FP 2000, SP3 on WinXP with Kerio firewall installed, I am not
sure what else might be relevant. I have numerous disk based webs and do
not run any web server software on my local machine. My problem is that I
can no longer import certain file types such as pdf documents and I can't
publish any web that contains pdf files, to either a local directory or a
remote server. That said, I just notice that the issue seems related to
file size because a pdf of 68KB doesn't cause problems.

The error generated is - "An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web
files. Authors - if authoring against a web server, please contact the
webmaster for this server's site. Webmasters - please see the server's
system log for more details."

I have read many posts about this error but can't find a solution to my
problem. I need to publish a 3mb pdf newsletter ASAP so any advice would be
greatly appreciated. My email address is invalid, please reply to this
group.

And what did the server's system logs say?

I am not running a server, they are disk based webs so there is no log. I
can open any of my webs on my remote server and import large files without
problem but I can then publish the file back to my local machine. There
seems to be a file size limit being applied.

I found this post >
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...-8&oe=UTF-8&newwindow=1&q=fp+error+import+sp3
which suggested a registry fix but it hasn't worked for me although I am not
quit sure if the syntax and value I entered is correct. I will investigate
this further.

If you have to upload a file ASAP the try using a ftp client. I am having a
similar problem with FP2003 and server time out and have successfully used
Cute ftp to download a large file.

The 'server time out' issue is discussed at MS here >
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=814332

but this registry hack did not solve my problem. I can import large files
to my webs on remote www servers I just can't import them to my local webs
which means I can't keep the copies synchronised like I am used to.

Thanks, but this reg hack is for files over 50meg. My mdb is 1.2 and your
file only 3meg. Could be just one of those FP(03) mysteries
