Error in bolding in Office 2004

If I select one word in Word and set it to "bold", the whole document
is set to bold. If I then undo it, the document is restored to the way
it was with the selected word set to bold.

Has anyone run into this?

Ideas?

Here's a guess. Have you got Normal set to automatically update? IOW, do
Format > Style > Normal > Modify and see if Automatically Update is
checked. If so, turn that off and see if things get better. m.
