error in calculs

Hello

When I type in '=300+200' directly in a cellule the '=3' is deleted straight
awway giving me a '00+200' answer rather that 500

Same thing when I type in -300 I get 00 in the cellule, the 63 is deleted
staright away

This only happens on one of my computers that is running XP an Office XP

Anyone know what I am talking about and got any answers ?
