The SharePoint technology wizards should be ran after the WSS update and
again after the OS update.

Also I don't stop the WWW publishing service, but instead quiesce the farm.

Is there any detailed error information in the upgrade.log file ?

Hi paul,

Another development, i stop to the Windows Sharepoint Search Service and
then again run the SP Technology and Configuration wizards. That time its
completed sucessfully. but when i went to the IE and open my pwa page i got
the following error.

It is an error to use a section registered as
allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error
can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application
in IIS. (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions\12\template\layouts\web.config line 244)

i am wondering what is this. Please if you can suggest something or anyone
else.

Hi all,

Finally we sucessfully install the Updates, its basically problem with the
Microsoft, they upload the binaries for the WSS 3.0 which having the conflict
with the Search Service.
read what they said about that
"We investigated the WSS Search error and resolved the problem. If you are
experiencing the WSS Search error, then please re-download the WSS package
for 960010 and re-apply it."

SO if you already installed the both WSS and Office Server updates and
facing the same problem. You dont need to worry just download the new
binaries install it and you will be back.

Note: if you are installing now then no need of worry even thing is still
now error free. But strongly recomendid test the updates into your test
envirnoment then go the live or production envirnoment.

Hope this will help for those who is suffering the same problem(Search
database is not updated).

Hello,

I have downloaded the latest updates after receiving this error. When I
attempt to run the update, it states that "There are not products installed
that are affected by this update." How do I get this to reinstall?
