Error in MS Outlook/Word

While trying to open a Word doc that is attached in an
email I an error message "System cannot file the file
Specified".

Here are the system specs
Dell Optiplex
NT4 SP6
Office 2000 SR1a

I tried renaming the normal.dot template to see if that
would fix it but it did not.

As a sidebar--we have been experiencing anomalies like
this since we applied several of the security patches that
MS released in the wake of the slammer and bugbear viruses.
