Hi all,

I can't open my outlook and everytime i click on the outlook icon, i got the
error:

Error in registry for extension "Exchange Extensions;?". The syntax or
format of the registry entry is incorrect. Check the registry settings and
compare the registry for this extension to other extensions in the registry.

Could anyone help me please? Thanks!

Are you connecting to an Exchange server? Can you log into Outlook on another
PC? Can someone else log into your PC and open Outlook?

I assume you're logging into a domain. No need to be an admin to have Outlook
on your PC, they can log into the network and configure an Outlook profile.
Can other users log in and use Outlook on your PC? Have you tried logging
into another PC and setting up your Outlook profile?

Hi K. Orland,

I ask my friend to login on my pc, he was prompted to setup a new email
account but when he cancelled it, the error with registry still came out... I
think i messed up with the exchange server that i've changed before...

Thanks.

Hi Kathleen,
This is the last error:

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window.
The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact
your administrator if this condition persists.

You don't have to have admin privileges to a PC to set up an Outlook account
if you're on a network. You log into the network, you create your Outlook
profile, you open Outlook.

Did Outlook ever work for you? Has anything been changed? In the properties
of your profile are you able to resolve the Exchange server name? Have you
checked the Application Event Viewer?

Yes it is working before but i accidentally removed the Microsoft Exchange
server so I decided to setup a new account but everything goes wrong and I
can't figure it out. I don't know if it has something to do with the PST or
OST files or the account itself...

Neither I can work offline... Outlook is completely down. I got the error 3
times, then the next window is My Mailbox and Microsoft exchange window,
finally the Cannot open outlook etc...

I'm really desperate... please help.

Have you completely deleted and recreated your Outlook profile? Restart the
PC inbetween.

Also, try Detect & Repair from the Help menu but you may need your Microsoft
Outlook disk for this.

Do you think if I reinstall Outlook it will fix everything? OK I'll give it a
try and let you know soon. Thanks for your assists.

It could be you need to reinstall if you removed the Exchange Extensions from
your Add Ins if you're in an Exchange Environment. I can't imagine why you
wanted to do that!

You may want to first try opening Outlook with a switch such as
/cleanprofile or /firstrun first to see if this will help reset Outlook back
to a usable application. A list of switches is listed here:

I tried /cleanprofile or /firstrun but still the error came out.

Is there anyway to reset my outlook back so that i could configure it all by
myself again?

I think if you've gotten to the stage of registry errors you may either need
to reinstall or worst case scenario, the PC will have to be reimaged (which
may actually be faster).

Have you talked to your Network Admin to obtain their assistance to resolve
the issue?
