Error Inserting Object Create from File

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I get the following error when trying to insert object "create from file" in my Powerpoint presentation.

"The Server Application, Source File, or Item Cannot Be Found" Error Message When You Try to Edit an Embedded Object"

I've searched this site, google, microsoft.com/support and can't find a solution that works. Any ideas to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank-you, Howard

Two key pieces of information missing from your message:

1- What is your exact update level of Office 2004, & more importantly

2- What type of file are you trying to insert as an "object" ?

Also please clarify what appears to be a contradiction: Are you trying to
insert an object or are you trying to edit one that's already been inserted?

OK, good to see that your install of Office is fully updated :)

Now, as for the PDFs: PDFs are not embeddable as objects in Office
documents, use Insert> Picture> From File... instead. The other file formats
you mentioned should not present that problem though.

First, try running Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions on your HD, then
restart your Mac & see if you have any better results.

If not, launch PPT while holding the Shift Key, then see if you can insert
an object without the message appearing. Reply with the results.
