Error installing SP2

Hi,

I've just installed Office 2003 Pro from original CD onto an XP system.
When I tried to install the Office 2003 SP2 from its original CD, I got
the error message:

"The expected version of the product was not found on your system".

This is clearly unhelpful.

I subsequently tried the full install version but got the same error
message. I have also downloaded the client and full versions from
Microsoft.com and got the same message when I tried to run them.

The only support message I found was this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909074

It did not seem relevant, but I followed the instructions anyway. The
Web Components had not previously been installed so I downloaded them
and successfully installed them. This did not change the subsequent
attempt to install SP2 - I still got the same error message as before.

Any ideas?

Did you check your Office SP CD to ensure it is for Office 2003 and not XP?

Hi Milly,

Yes, I checked both discs. They are both Microsoft Office Professional
Editie 2003 (Dutch).

I did not know that international SP-2 CDs had been released for Office
2003. Thanks for that information.

Bump ...

Is anyone able to answer my query?

Ria

Milly,

You're welcome for that information, but it hasn't helped me any!
