I am getting this error message when trying to retrieve mail from my
company, which is PC/microsoft exchange based. Use Entourage 12.1.2,
OS 10.5.4 on MacBook Pro. Having been doing this for 3 years until
this past week when it stopped working

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

have read this but it does not say how to fix!

Hi Paul!

You need to explain better what's not working. You've simply said
Entourage "stopped working" but what does that mean? What are you seeing
and what have you done to troubleshoot already? Do other Mac users still
work?

Hi Bill
When I log into Entourage, I do not receive any mail. When I try and
send email, I get the -18596 error message. It says "The folder
cannot be found on the Exchange Server. The folder might be deleted or
moved or it cannot be accessed (-18596)"
I have searched the web for several days trying to find out what may
cause it with no luck. My hands are somewhat tied as my company is a
PC shop and I am using a mac "under the radar" so to speak...I am not
aware of any other mac users

Hi Paul!

The simplest way to fix this might be to empty your local Exchange
account cache and let everything come back down from the server.
Right-click or Control-click your Exchange account in the folder list on
the left and select Folder Properties. Click the Empty button and allow
time for your messages to synchronize from the server.

If that doesn't work then you can go to Tools -->
Accounts..., delete your Exchange account and then create your account
again. Your rules, signatures, etc., should be preserved. Your mail is
still on the server so your messages and folders will download again.

If recreating your Exchange account doesn't work then use the Entourage
menu --> Switch Identity... command to create a new identity. You'll
need to create your Exchange account again but you'll also need to set
up your rules, signatures and everything else from scratch.

Finally, if using a new identity doesn't work then you may have a
problem with your account on the server. You'll need to contact your
Exchange admin and ask that he help you set up your account in Outlook
for windows to see if he finds any problem there.

Hope this helps!
