error message 503 when using Earthlink mail

When sending outbound mail using Outlook 2003 I get an error message stating "0x800CCC65 SMTP_503_COMMAND_SEQ Improper command sequence". The mail works fine when using Outlook Express, same email settings exactly. Any ideas?

Could you turn on diagnostic logging (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and post
the OPMLog.log file (preferably as an attachment) after you try to send
mail?
