Error message adding music to my web page

P

Phyllis

I've successfully added music to 2 of my web pages but am having trouble with
a 3rd. I've converted the file to a WMA file. When I try to update the web
I get this error message Server error: Cannot rename ".Track01.WMA.tmp". I
haven't renamed anything. Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Yes. I right clicked on the page, went to page properties and browsed for
the background sound. Then I saved the page. Then I tried to Publish to the
Web.

Make sure the page compatibility is set to custom for the page.
FrontPage Toolbar, Tools > Page options > Compatibility. Set the dropdowns to custom.

Thank you. I checked and all 3 dropdowns were already set to custom. Any
other ideas?

What is the actual name and location of the wma file in your web

It's named Track01.WMA and it sits under the images folder which is where the
other 2 songs are also located (the other 2 songs play fine). I've tried
naming it DreamOn.WMA but that won't work either.

Reason I asked was your error had ".Track01.WMA.tmp" and FP does not support files starting w/ a dot (.)
- try renaming it to lower case - say dream_on.wma

PS
clean out your IE cache (temp files) and FP Temp files and web cache before publishing
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Check that you have not exceeded (and are not close to) your web size
allocation. FrontPage uses some "workspace" when publishing and this
must be allowed for.
If you have exceeded the space allocation (or are very close to it)
there may not be enough space left to rename the .tmp file into its
corect name and place.
