Error message after applying security updates to Office 2003

I just completed my monthly security update for XP and Office 2003, which has
rendered my Outlook 2003 unusable - I can no longer send and receive! When I
try to do so, I get the following error message, whch I can find nowhere on
the MSFT KB:

Error Message: Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point
CreateInfoWindow could not be located on the Dynamic Link Library MSOERT2.dll.

I have tried the "Detect and Repair" function within Outlook, and repairing
and reinstalling Outlook from the original CD, with no results - the same
error message persists.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Globaltech,

I believe this is a DLL for Outlook Express.

Is Outlook still configured as your default e-mail application? Does the
error only happen on a Send / Receive within Outlook? What version of
Internet Explorer / Outlook Express do you have?

Do you synchronize newsgroup messages with Outlook Express? I'm just
wondering why the Send/Receive in Outlook would be using this DLL.

You might also post to an Outlook or Outlook Express newsgroup to see if
anyone has more information about that particular file and errors related to
it.

One more question:

Is KB931768 one of the updates you have installed? What happens if you
uninstall it? Does that resolve the issue?

This seems to be a widespread problem.
I too have had this error in Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP. Following
an update which included KB936030 and KB924085 on 12 May 2007.
I have tried uninstalling these and restoring to a point before this update,
but I just get a 'cannot restore to selected point and no changes have been
made' notice. Also I have tried detect and repair without success and have
gone through all settings in Outlook and Anti virus software carefully to try
to find a solution.
One theory in another forum was that it was possibly due to anti spyware
updates within Norton Internet Security.
No one so far has offered a solution.
