Error message: "Could not connect to OLAP server specified"

After getting my user and permissions corrected, I still get this error when
trying to build a cube - suggestions?

Thanks,

What do you mean by "getting my user permissions corrected?" It certainly
doesn't sound like it.

I will try to be a little more lucid in my detail.

The user I am trying to create the cube with is:

a) a member of the Admin and OLAP Admin group on the Project server
b) a member of the Admin and OLAP Admin group on the SQL server
c) a member of the Admin group in Project (as a User)
d) a Domain Admin

PSComPlus.exe has been run, and tells me "Microsoft Project Server
components are now running in Com+".

The Analysis Services Repository was migrated at setup, and the ProjAdmin
user is Admin on the server, so he (presumably) can write anywhere.

I am trying to create the cube as the ProjAdmin user from the Project
Server.

Here are the specific errors I get:

I have worked through the "OLAP cube generation may not be successful in MS
PWA" posting, and this is MS Project Server 2003.

Any guidance?

Al:

When you say "The user I am trying to create the cube with is" you mean that
this is the account you used to for the COM+ identity? Please confirm.

If so, the next thing we'd to know is the setup of your system. For the
moment, I'm going to assume that your SQL Analysis Services is not running
on the same box as Project Server. If this supposition is correct, I'd make
sure that SQL Server SP3.a has been applied to both the machine running SQL
and Analysis Services as well as the machine running Project Server.

Both assumptions are correct. What is currently wrong is that, apparently,
in checking the service pack info on the Project server, there is NO
msmdsrv.exe in the \Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin folder.

Apparently, the Analysis Services install was hosed. I do have msmdlog.mdb,
msmdrep.mdb, msolap.upd, and msmdrasf.lck there, so how to recover from
here?

Uninstall and reinstall Analysis Services on the Project Server? Since sp3a
was installed, it won't let me launch SQL2000 again to "repair".

Thanks for your help - uninstalling Analysis Services, and reinstalling,
with SP3a fixed the problem.
