Error message:"Entourage cannot open the item due to an error. Not enough memory."

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I am not able to access my drafts folder, my deleted items folder, and one of my subfolders of my inbox. I get the above error message when I attempt to open one of these folders.
I'd be glad to delete all items in deleted items folder, but i can't even access it to empty it.

Please advise what I could do to alleviate the problem. Thanks.
