Error message "not Responding" when searching in Word

After using Microsoft Office 2003 for several years, suddenly I receive an
Error message that says "Program not responding" when trying to insert
anything. It happens in Word and Outlook only.

All updates have been installed and Norton doesn't find any viruses.

to download a simple registry fix.
