Error message - operation failed

I've been getting an error "the operation failed" when I
click on send/receive messages. This has been going on for
a couple of weeks. I don't know why this keeps happening?

I can get my email when the program goes out and checks
automatically, but I get the error if I try to get it
using send/receive.

I'm using winXP home edition with Outlook 2002.
(10.4712.4219) SP-2.

I'm also using Norton Internet Security 2004. (not sure if
that matters?)

Any suggestions?
