error message: system exception access violation

Computer hard drive failed. Reloaded Frontpage 2000, and then 2002 on new
computer, and then transferred Frontpage files to new computer for my website
from back-up. Now when I attempt to open pages for the site, I get error
message : "system exception, access violation", and Frontpage freezes.

How did you "transfer" the sites"?

You need to Publish them to the new machine.

Thanks Steve,

I appreciate your prompt reply. I simply loaded the files on the new
computer and opened Frontpage. I then opened the web from the appropriate
file, and the navigation view looked fine, but when I tried to open and edit
pages, I rec'd the aforementioned messages and FP locked withalmost all of
the pages.

Since I posted my question, I set about reading the gazillion "fixes"
published on the Internet at various sites for this problem, which I have
discovered, is not so unique. Many were way beyond my current computer
knowledge and skills, so I started simply by uninstalling FP2000 and FP2002,
and reinstalling FP2000 only (ergo, no SP3), and viola!... it works!

Thanks for the tip, but I did not "publish my site" to the new computer (not
even sure how to do this); just transferred the files. I have since been
able to open pages, edit pages, publish the pages to the server, and the site
is functional.

Lucked out this time (after spending 6 hours 2 days ago repairing ActiveSync
glitch with the computer change).
