Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) tried opening my Powerpoint for the first time and I am getting a pop-up that says "The application Microsoft Powerpoint quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other apps are not affected. Click Relaunch to launch again. Or click report to see more detals or send report to to apple." I dont know what to do...I have tried to relaunch, no go. The icon is on the desktop, i moved it. What can i do to open it?? Thanks!

It isn't clear what 'icon' you've moved, but if you have put the actual
PowerPoint application icon on the Desktop, itself, that's exactly what is
causing the problem. Put it back in the Applications/Microsoft Office 2008
folder where it belongs & it should put things right.

OTOH, if you're referring to the PowerPoint icon that appears in the Dock
that's a different story. That is just an alias or shortcut for launching
the program. If the program is crashing on launch when you click that icon
there is some other problem that needs to be addressed.

Reply with an accurate indication of which you're dealing with in order to
determine how to proceed.

I thought it was the icon but it must be the actual application. I tried putting the icon back on the dock and i get the same error message.

I am new to the mac so whatever advice you can give me to help get powerpoint working would be great!

Thank you soo much!

If it actually is the application, itself, the 'advice' is in my first
reply... Put it back where it belongs :) Dragging it to the Dock will
accomplish absolutely nothing more than what you've already discovered. As
long as the application is not in the proper location the program will
continue to crash regardless of what else you do or how you do it.
