Error Message when trying to open a Word 2007 document

I have both Word 2007 and 2003. I am using Word 2007 more as I get used to
the new format but I get the following error when trying to open any word
2003 or 2007 document while in Windows Explorer, "Windows cannot find
'C:Users\Steve\Documents\Desktop Manager error message.doc'. Make sure you
typed the name correctly, and then try again.

If I open Word 2007 first then open the file it works fine. I have gone
into my default programs to make sure Word 2007 is the default program for
docs and docx and still get the error message. Very annoying. Does anyone
have a fix?

This is frequently caused by the office Plug-ins that are part of Norton AV
or Kaspersky AV. The plug-ins can be disabled through the AV advanced setup
menus.

Terry that worked! I have Norton Internet Security 2009 and I had the "Scan
office documents" setting set to "OFF". I turned it on and now my documents
work.

Thanks for the tip, that was certainly a pain.
