Sometimes when I open windows mail and outlook, I get a message that it is
not responding but it does open and work?? I'm using Vista Business and
Office 2007 Enterprise.
Thanks,
Mike

Your "anti-virus" scanning software may be interfering. If yours has an
"Office plugin" disable it as they are very problematic and provide no
additional security.

Are you using dialup to access the e-mail? Is there a firewall between
you ant the e-mail server?

It doesn't do this on my new laptop which has vista premium. Thanks for
trying anyway. I guess I'll just have to live with it.

What else is different between the two computers? CPU power? NIC
drivers? Memory amounts? Harddrive/swapfile setup?

CPU the same P4, memory in both 1G, swapfile set up, laptop is running on
home network wireless, all drivers working properly.

Ok, you mention "sometimes". What set of circumstances evoke the
"stall"? Is it after a period of inactivity? Check "device manager" NIC
properties, Power management tab for allow shut off to save power and
uncheck it.

Both Windows mail and Outlook do it when you start the computer. Being idle
is not the cause. The regular start up screen shows then switches to a blank
white page with the error message across the status bar at the top. After
4-5 seconds, it switches back and works from there. It doesn't do it every
time but most of the time. Will do the NIC check and let you know.
