error message

my word 2000 installs 'successfully' in Windows 2000. However, when I try to
open it, I get:
"Winword.exe has generated error and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program. See error log."
QUESTIONS: How can I restart Word when I can't start it without getting this
message? AND where can I find the error log? weekend3
PS: I've tried two different copies of Word 2000. same result.

You've landed in a discussion group for users of Mac versions of Word (not
your fault: the interface is badly designed). The aspect you mention differs
on the Mac OS from Windows OS.

Although there are several people here who are experts in both Mac and PC
and they may come by soon, you're likely to get quicker results in a
specialized discussion group for PC Word. Start here:

You need to Uninstall using Add/Remove programs, then you need to
re-install.

This is a "stop error" caused by Windows sensing that the program has
attempted something illegal.

It is probably caused by a missing update. After you install Word 2000, you
must visit the Microsoft website, download, and install the latest Service
Pack for Office 2000. I do not remember: I think it's SP3.
