Error Message

I have been sent a database today from a friend who had this message:

"Microsoft Access cannot open this file. This file is located outside your
intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft Access will not open the file
due to potential security problems. To open the file, copy it to your
machine or an accessible network location."

I have also experienced this problem myself when trying to open this
database. I have also been told that a database I sent to a colleague today
they have had the same problem. We are all on personal PCs not on networks
and have extracted the mdb file from zipped folders.

Has there been any change to Windows or Office security that is causing this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

hi Simon,
"Microsoft Access cannot open this file. This file is located outside your
intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft Access will not open the file
due to potential security problems. To open the file, copy it to your
machine or an accessible network location."
This is a generic problem:

Add the location where you stored the file in the trusted zones (Control
panel/Internet).
Or create a local copy without alternate data stream, e.g. on FAT32 USB
stick.

Thanks Stefan

I actually just checked the Properties of the file and found that MS must
have added a new security feature which allow you to unblock the file - wish
they'd told us about it!

Cheers,

Simon
