Susan,
I'm running windows200pro and office 2000

I went to the microsoft page 324520 and I'm not
comfortable going into the registry keys

Can I just reinstall office2000 and correct the problem?

Thanks,
BB

Hi, BB,

It will probably continue giving you the same error message. Do you have a
techie friend who can help?

Susan,

I got up the nerve to try---324628 Off2000

All the installs seemed to have worked but when I tried to
use HELP again the messages sent me back to the
windowsinstaller on the MSofficeSR-1 disk and got the same
messages

Got another useful hints?

Thanks,
BB

So, let me make sure I understand what's happening.

When you use Help from the Word menu, you are given a message that Windows
needs to install additional components, and you're prompted for the Office
(SR-1) CD. Then when you put it in, you get the Error 1919 messages. Is
that correct? If not, would you post the exact steps of what's happening?

Give the steps in this article a try, if you haven't already:

299611 - OFF2000: Errors 1918, 1919, or 1909 When You Reinstall Office:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299611&Product=ofw2k

Also, did you install Office 2000 as the administrator on your computer?
What operating system are you running?

Tried article299611

In safe mode it could not find windows installer with the
office-sr-1 disk in machine

Message from word help--goes directly to windowsinstaller
looking for office-sr-1 disk then get error 1919 messages

Office was installed as administrator

Use windows2000 pro

any more helpful hints?
Thanks,
BB

When you refer to "office-sr-1" disk, you mean the original Office 2000
installation disk, right? Not an SR-1 patch disk?

Other than that, I don't have any tips for you...if you tried everything in
those two articles and if everything's being done as the machine
administrator...I'll think a bit more and post back if I run across
anything.
