Error messages when I try to delete

In Outlook 2002, I am getting these error messages:

1. When I try Tools/Empty Deleted Items Folder, I get:

"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."

2. When I try to right click and delete a folder that is in the Deleted
items folder, I get:

"Unable to delete this folder. Right click the folder and then right click
the properties to check your permissions for the folder. See the folder
owner or your administrator to change your permissions."

Despite these errors, I can manually select items in the Deleted items
folder and then delete them. However, I would like to use the Tools/Empty
Deleted Items Folder feature, as I was able to do previously.

I will appreciate advice

.
Choose Detect & Repair from the Help drop down menu. Have
your CD handy.

I ran Detect and Repair and also Scanpst.exe, but I still get the same two
error messages.

This same problem occurred with a client I was working with. They use
Exchange Server with Personal Folders with Microsoft Outlook 2000. We
recreated the Outlook profile and added the same PST file to that profile and
it fixed the problem.

So just go into Mail in Control Panel, click on Show Profiles then Add a new
profile from scratch with your current settings and that should fix it.
