Error on insert object process

Win 2000/Word 2003. When inserting a PDF file as an icon
into a document I get the error "This object was created
in PDF. This application is not available to open this
object. MAke sure application is properly installed ...".
Adobe reader is installed and works to all appearances.
The PDF file was created by another author. I'm able to do
this on another machine with the same software resident.
Any thoughts??

Hi,

Have you tried uninstalling the Adobe Reader on the problematic machine?
Try reinstalling the Adobe Reader.

I have been trying to research based on the error msg. I have not yet
received any information specific to the error msg.
I shall continue to research.

Pls let me know if after the reinstallation of Adobe Reader , your problem
is resolved.

ya...the application has to be present.
may be you can install adobe with the permission of your sysadmin.
