Error on saving a 32mb word doc file.

Hello,
I make a chnage on my 31mb doc file.
When I try & save the doc,
I get an error message that says:

"WINWORD.exe has generated errors & will be closed by
windows. An error log is being created""

When I check Event Viewer,
Dr. datson has generated an error log:

"The application, , generated an application error The
error occurred on 12/23/2003 @ 10:52:45.681 The exception
generated was c0000005 at address 309886A8
(MsoPidgFromHsp)"
I have checked the MS Knowledge Base & have not found
anything to resolve this issue.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with that error code. What I am suspicious about is that
you are perilously close to the maximum size for a Word document - assuming
it is all text. Would you let us know what versions of Word and Windows you
are using - are they patched up to date and what does your document
comprise?

Terry,
We are running Win2k, SP3.
Not sure on the hotfixes?
Word 2000, SR-1.
The Doc is mostly text, some in bold or italics.
A few pictures of flowcharts,
and some small pics of a corporate logo.
I can scroll the view the document fine.
Thanks for the response!

First I'd try SelectAll and copy/paste everything into a new document and
save it with a different name. Then try editing and see if that resolves the
problem.

If that makes no difference, then try updating to Windows 2k SP4 and Office
2000 SR2a and test again.

If that still fails, then I really can only guess that you have reached the
maximum file size. Although the stated maximum file size is 32MB for a text
document, as you add more graphics, tables, links, any direct formatting,
etc., all adds extra overhead and reduces that maximum. You may have no
option but to split the document.
