Error opening file Visio 2000 starting from Visio 2003

Hello,
since the update to Visio 2003, we encounter problems of opening files
created from Visio 2000.
We manage many Visio files and only those of a particular project don't open
correctly with this error message : “Error (1) unexpected end of fileâ€.
These files open well under Visio 2000 but not under Visio 2003 and I didn't
find method to convert them. Thank you for your assistance.

This typically means that part of the file is corrupt and that trips up
Visio 2003 when it has to convert from the prior format. One possible
workaround is to open the file in Visio 2002 (which shares the same format
as Visio 2000) and then save the file out as as Visio XML Drawing (VDX).
Often this will open in Visio 2003 and purge the corruption.

Otherwise you are left trying to figure out what thing to delete from the
document that will allow Visio 2003 to open it. If you happen to be working
on an architectural drawing, I've seen problems with a couple stair shapes.
