Error opening Project

Emily

When opening any projects in Project 2002, we get the
following error message: 'There is a view named &Gantt
Chart in this project that cannot be overwritten' Press
OK to rename it, or press Cancel to Cancel opening the
project'.

I believe that something may be been changed in the
Enterprise Global - any ideas?

Check out the Enterise Global file and use the Organizer (Tools - Organizer)
to delete the Gantt Chart view and the Entry table from this file. These
are local objects residing in each user's Global.mpt file and should not be
present in the Enterprise Global file, which is reserved for only enterprise
objects. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for responding. When i try to delete these items,
i get a message saying that the object is in use and
cannot be copied or deleted. Is there anyway of finding
out who or what is using these objects?

I believe that one of my colleagues opened his project
and when given the original error message about the
object already existing, renamed it - is it possible that
this probject is now using the objects from the
enterprise global and that this is the cause of the
problem now? If so, how do i go about switching this back
to look at his local copy of the objects?

thanks for your help

Hi Dale, its me again, was having a slightly dippy moment
and realised that if i close the View in the Enterprise
Global then low and behold it will allow you to delete
it !!

Thanks for your help

You must apply the Enterprise Gantt Chart and the Enterprise Entry table in
the Enterprise Global before you can delete the Gantt Chart and Entry table
in the Organizer. Sorry; I should have mentioned that in my directions.
Hope this helps.
