Tried to open a pps with 2003 and received a could not open messgae. Since
then each time I reboot, I get a dialogue box <powerpoint needs to close
error message and a request to start poerpoint in safe mode>. Also
powerpoint will not open .pps'.

How do I fix both these issues?

It isn't clear from your description - - can you just open PowerPoint without
getting the message? If so, can you go to Help > Detect and Repair? Or, do you
get the "powerpoint needs to close" error message without even opening
PowerPoint?
(You say that you get the latter message when you reboot and you don't mention
attempting to open PowerPoint.)

What happens if you open PowerPoint in Safe Mode? Can you go to Help > About
and click on "Disabled Items"? Is anything listed?

The message occurs on reboot without openning Ppt.

I have tried running the repair function with no joy, and have nothing
disabled.

I am now also getting a win32 error and a shutdown on occassion.

Maybe I shuld reinstall Ppt?
