error publishing smartnav.htm

I have just rewritten my web site changing the structure etc. I attempted to
publish the new site and got an error about a directory not existing. I then
attempted to back up to the old version and got a server error uploading
smartnav.htm. I have run the front page clean up utility and still got the
error with smartnav.htm Can someone shed light on what I need to do to fix
this?
