Error regarding WSS for Issues, Risks and Documents

Hello All,

I keep getting this error when I try to view or upload issues, risks or
documents related to any project plan thats in my project server:

"The documents, risks and issues features in Project Web Access use Windows
SharePoint Services.

A Windows SharePoint Services site needs to be created for your project
before you can share project documents or track project risks and issues.
Site creation takes a few minutes, so if the project was just published, wait
a few minutes and then visit the page again. Otherwise, contact your server
administrator."

Well, the funny thing is that a WSS site has been created. I go to the
Admin page and go to Manage WSS, and everything on that page is defined. I
click on the "Test URL" link and it takes me to SharePoints Central
Administration site. Then, on the bottom of the Admin page in PWA, I click
on another link that takes me to the WSS homepage. And from there, I'm able
to see the documents that I've uploaded.

So, yes, I'm confused and frustrated, and I'm new at this. I'd much
appreciate the help.

Thanks

Gigi,

Ok, I called up MS and they said that the reason why I was getting that
error was because WSS wasn't creating a site. So I had to go in their
manually and create the site on WSS for issues, risks and documents for a
particular project.

The way to do that is: in PWA go to Admin, then Manage Windows SharePoint
Services, then click on Manage SharePoint Sites. From there you'll find the
project that you just created, click on that specific project and then click
on Create Site and it should create that site for you.

It should do it automatically, but I don't know why its not. When I find
out more, I'll let you know.

Thank you for the answer but no go here.
I select the Project and when I say create site then it will say that the
site can not be created as allready exists.

But then on the first page of the PWA I get the message :

Risks
There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running
Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator.

Issues
There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running
Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator.

I was having a similar issue. I have a single server running WSS and Project
Server. I have been able to correct and re-create the problem with the
following configuration changes. When other users have reported correcting
the problem with a re-install... I imagine the installer sets the
configuration file correctly. The steps are listed below:

If your Project server is linked correctly to WSS you should not be able to
access Microsoft Update Services. To get Windows Update Service Working:
proxcfg -d

To get ProjectServer linked back to WSS enter the following (Since my WSS
server and ProjectServer are on the same host I am using that host name as
the proxy server)
proxycfg -d -p "YourProxyServer" ";ServerName;IPAddress; FQDN"

You can run both of these commands without requiring a restart of the
applications or OS.
