Error saving a 2003 PowerPoint Presentation

When I save a presentation in PowerPoint 2003. I get the following
error message: There was an error accessing <filename>.

I have seen the MSDN article here and doesnt look like the case, since
one of the files I was having trouble with was originally from 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817135/EN-US/

Only one of the solutions works for me (copy and paste).

I am accessing this file from a web base document management. When I
click on the link it will stream an open PowerPoint. But I am able to
get it to work by right clicking on the same link and selecting "Save
Target as".

My questions are: What can I do to resolve this. and what is the
difference between clicking a link and save target as?

One other thing. This does not happen to all ppt's. But the one thing
I did notice for the ppt files I was having trouble with had the
template attribute populated.

John,

did you install the Service Pack 1 for Office 2003? If not, please do so. It
solved most of the problems reported for old presentations not functioning
correctly in the newest version of PPT.

Kind regards,
Ute

Thanks UTE for your response.

SP1 is installed. I am not so sure it is only old PowerPoint
presentations. I only know that this only occurs in 2003 and the one
case I was able to find the version the person uploaded the
presentation.
