error shutdown

When I open Outlook express I see one message with a attachment.
I then get an error message "
Error signature: AppName: outlook.exe
AppVer:9.0.0.6604 ModName:msvcrt.dll
ModVer: 7.0.2600.5512 Offset: 00037fd4
Need to close application
Have checked for virus came out clean.
Running Xp prof. with serv. pack3

Any help would be appeciated.

Forgot to mention I run Office 2000 Premium.
Ran Outlook Express in safe mode but get the same results.
The program will not stay open long enough for me to edit or delete mail
files.

You're a little confused. Outlook Express and Office 2000 are unrelated. Ask
in microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general.
