I've installed an add-on called MenuPlus which creates
better navigation and menus' than FP's own on.
Once I use the components I'm unable to re-edit the pages
again. If I open the web with FrontPage 2002, then try to
open any page I get a dialog box with "System Exception -
Access Violation", and I have to kill FrontPage (not
responding).
The "SYSTEM EXCEPTION: ACCESS VIOLATION" is becoming more
common among FP2002 users but there doesn't seem to be a
fix. Some users have reported this error when using FPs
Navigation tools - with no other third party addons.
I emailed MenuPlus support and problem seems to be with
Frontpage 2002 as the error occurs with or without
Menuplus components. There answer is given below, but does
anyone know of a fix or how to officailly report it as
a "BUG":

Hello Ellis,
These are my findings so far. The testweb doesn't contain
any MenuPlus components and I have removed MenuPlus from
my system. So MenuPlus isn't playing a part in what
follows:
1. If I open the web with FrontPage 2000, I can open any
page successfully. The link bar on the left has the
references to the other pages (Home, About Us etc.). The
link bar on the Home page just says 'Home' without a
hyperlink.
2. If I open the web with FrontPage 2002, then try to open
any page I get a dialog box with "System Exception -
Access Violation", and I have to kill FrontPage (not
responding).
3. If I open the web with FrontPage 2003 Beta, I can again
open any page successfully. This time the link bar on the
left has the references to the other pages as before,
except for the Home page which says [Edit the properties
for this link bar to display hyperlinks here].
So my conclusion is that this is nothing to do with
MenuPlus (since it doesn't figure anywhere) but is a
problem with FrontPage 2002, and I have a very big hunch
that it's something to do with the link bars. I hope this
is of some help to you and that you'll be able to track
down the problem. I'll be interested to hear how you get
on. There may be something of use on the Microsoft
support web site.
Best regards,
Jeff.
