Error trying to send a document in 2000

Our user has Word 2000 and Outlook 2000, and when trying to send the document in Word as attachment, is getting the following box to appear

MAPI Failure, unspecified erro

We rebooted the machine and the error still appeared. We wound up sending the message in Outlook and were fine. But is this correctible in Word? Does the document have to be saved first? If there is any solution let me know. Thanks!
