error when closing word 2000

Anyone have a fix for encountering the following error
message when closing Word 2000? "winword has caused an
unknown error in <unknown>. If the problem continues, try
restarting" I get this message twice every time I close
the program.

I started and ran word under the "run" function under the
start button of windows ME. when closing it that way, I do
not get the error messages. Any ideas?
